Jeff Fowlds has 35 years of experience in the investment business, mostly in Equity Capital Markets (ECM) – Research, Institutional Sales, Trading, Syndicate, and Investment Banking. Jeff has spent the last 23 years building the Equity Capital Markets divisions for emerging Regional Investment Banks, Brokerage Houses, and Research Boutiques. As well, he has helped larger regional firms consolidate their operations after a merger and re-build after difficult setbacks in their internal growth.
Most recently Jeff was head of ECM at Ascendiant Capital Markets and Wunderlich Securities. He helped build Wunderlich’s ECM business from Ground Zero in 2008 to a $25 million ECM effort in 4 years. Prior to Wunderlich, he was responsible for Institutional Sales and Trading at Ferris Baker Watts in the year before the firm was sold to RBC. From late 2000 to 2005, he directed the Equity Capital Markets division of Stifel Nicolaus, helping the firm triple the commission revenues and grow dramatically their Investment Banking and Syndicate revenues.
Combining 2 firms’ ECM divisions can be a difficult task and in May of 1999, following the loss of several key individuals, Jeff was brought into help Tucker Anthony and Cleary Gull complete their merger and build the ECM division. Key hires in Institutional Sales, Research and Trading, allowed the firm to recover the growth of the combined firms and re-gain their momentum.
Jeff held similar positions as head of ECM for several other firms; Hoak Breedlove Wesneski, Hanifen Imhoff and George K. Baum. Prior to Baum, Jeff was head of Institutional Equity Sales at Rauscher Pierce and was the Southwest Institutional Sales Manager for Dean Witter. He began his career in Research and Institutional Sales at Dean Witter in the late 70’s and spent 4 years with Montgomery Securities in San Francisco as an Institutional Salesman.
He graduated from the University of Washington with a BA degree and played on the Huskies golf team. Following a stint as a golf professional, Jeff went back to school at the American Graduate School of International Management where he received his Masters of International Management with a focus in finance. Jeff’s wife Hope and he have been married for 29 years and have two children, Greg and Zach. His interests remain in entrepreneurial business development, golf, and a myriad of other sports.
